Helping Restore Choice
so you can live intentionally.
I believe understanding yourself matters. I also believe you can experience yourself differently.
I’m Yvette Weeks, LMFT, a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with more than sixteen years of experience in behavioral health.
Over the years, I kept noticing something that changed the way I thought about therapy:
People could understand themselves remarkably well and still find that the same response took over when something important was happening.
They could understand the relationship pattern.
Know the boundary they wanted to hold.
Recognize the anxiety, guilt, fear, or self-doubt.
And still find that when the moment actually arrived, their understanding wasn’t always enough to change what happened next.
I became increasingly interested in the space between understanding something differently and experiencing yourself differently.
Aequora grew from that interest.

Psychotherapy incorporating clinical hypnosis and experiential methods
How I work
I don’t believe one technique explains every person or solves every problem.
I want to understand what’s happening for you—what keeps repeating, what seems to trigger it, what you’ve already tried, and where you want to have more freedom to respond differently.
From there, I draw from more than one therapeutic approach.
My work may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems-informed and parts-oriented approaches, trauma-informed psychotherapy, behavioral strategies, imagery, clinical hypnosis, and other experiential methods.
The treatment follows the person—not a script.
Clinical hypnosis has an important place in my work because it gives us another way to engage therapeutically with internal experience through focused attention, imagery, suggestion, and mental rehearsal.
It isn’t something I use simply because I can.
Like every intervention, I use it when it makes clinical sense for the person and the work we’re doing together.
Experience matters. So does curiosity.
My clinical background spans more than sixteen years and includes extensive work with trauma, anxiety, depression, relationships, and complex emotional and behavioral concerns.
I’ve also served in clinical leadership roles, supervised clinicians, and trained other mental health professionals.
That experience shapes how I work.
But it hasn’t made me less curious.
I don’t want to decide who you are before I’ve understood you.
I don’t assume every recurring response comes from trauma.
I don’t assume insight is always the answer.
And I don’t assume hypnosis is always the answer.
My job is to listen closely, think clinically, notice what matters, and adjust the work to the person sitting across from me.
The direction matters.
I want to understand what you want to move away from.
But I also want to know what you want to move toward.
How do you want to participate in your relationships?
What matters enough that you want to hold the boundary?
What would you choose if fear or self-doubt had less influence over the decision?
What would feel more like you?
Because therapy isn’t only about understanding why something has been difficult.
It’s also about becoming increasingly able to move toward the life you actually want to live.
